A few weeks ago at Comic-Con convention down in San Diego, California the trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine was presented to some very lucky patrons. The official trailer hasn’t hit the web yet. I know this because I don’t have it. But a distorted, boot-legged version is circulating, and after seeing it I can say cha-ching!
The film looks like it’s going to be much darker and less ‘candy-assed’ than all of the previous X-Men flicks. Of course Hugh Jackman will be returning as Wolverine. And, we’re definitely going to see Sabertooth because you can’t really do the origin of Wolverine without him.
We’re also going to see a lot more of the lower tiered Marvel mutants like: Silver Fox, the Blob, Agent Zero and Deadpool. But, the biggest and most pleasant surprise was the introduction of Gambit… one of my favorite characters from the comic books and the cheesy Saturday morning cartoon (which sadly no longer runs).
The second biggest surprise was seeing that Will-I-am of the Black Eyed Peas was casted for the flick. The Jamaican born hip hop/pop star will be playing the part of John Wraith, a grungy-looking, teleporting, explosives expert.
The film is slated for release on May 1st, 2009 via 20th Century Fox. I included the boot-legged trailer. I’ll put up the official version as soon as it hits the web.
