Under the radar, actress Kerry Washington is quietly becoming a superstar. She is probably most known as the sightless girlfriend of the ‘Thing’ from 'the Fantastic 4' and its sequel the ‘Rise of the Silver Surfer’. But her best performances have come as the wife of 2 different Oscar winners. In 2004 she played counterpart to Jamie Foxx in film ‘Ray’ as Della Bea Robinson, the wife of Ray Charles. Two years later she appeared with Forrest Whittaker as Kay Amin, the wife of controversial dictator Idi Amin in ‘The Last King of Scotland’.

She was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York and is the daughter of a successful real estate broker father and a professor and educational consultant mother. She attended The Spence School in Manhattan, graduating in 1994; fellow alumni include Gwyneth Paltrow and Emmy Rossum. Washington went on to earn a theater degree in 1998 from George Washington University.

Kerry is now 31 and has put together an extensive portfolio over the last 14 years. She has guest-starred on multiple television sitcoms ranging from ‘Law and Order’ to multiple appearances on ‘Boston Legal’. You may also remember her as the Angelina Jolie’s second in command in ‘Mr. and Ms. Smith’ (2005) or maybe as the enterprising lesbian in Spike Lee’s ‘She Hate Me’, or even as the sultry temptress in Chris Rock’s ‘I Think I love My Wife’.

If you’re following the pattern, it’s easy to see that Ms. Washington is definitely making a name for herself in Hollywood even though she wouldn’t be considered a superstar by most. The caliber of actors, actresses and directors she has worked with in the recent past is an obvious testament to her talent. And she doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.

You can look for in the near future a part of an interracial couple living next door to an oddly psychotic cop (Samuel L. Jackson) in ‘Lake View Terrace’.
